November 2023 Gateside Park update
In June 2023, the Gateside Association formed a sub-committee to work towards achieving a park redevelopment alongside Fife Council. We were aware that the current park equipment is now beyond its life expectancy however FC does not have the necessary budget to fund a complete rebuild.
As a sub-committee, we put forward a few proposals to Fife Council who arranged for KOMPAN to draw up some design options. We have now received these designs back and the next stage is to consult with the local community to decide on the final plans as well as start fundraising. There will be an event in early 2024 to allow the community to contribute. The overall aim is to ensure an attractive space for use by all abilities and age groups. Funding
Fife Council has scheduled the park upgrade for 2025/26 and has also provisionally allocated £50k from a Scottish Govt funding pot towards our project. We need to raise another £100k in the next 2 years. This will involve applying for funding and also fundraising an amount ourselves.
