North East Fife Community Hub Mobile Shop

Stewart Kerr, Chair of NEFCH, has written to community councils in the area with the following offer:

We are the North East Fife Community Hub base in St Andrews where we run a café and several other community-based activities in the St Davids Centre. We have been based there for three years. The Community own the Centre..

We have been asked by Fife Council to extend our activities a little and use the kitchen and facilities at the Community hub to run a Mobile Shop, currently dubbed ‘The Wheely Hub’, which would be based here but visit rural Communities throughout North East Fife. We would be seeking to address social isolation, improve local food supply, and improve social cohesion, helping people feel part of Fife.

We hope to supply from the mobile shop everything that our customers would want to make meals and make their lives easier. What we stock would be up to the customers; however, we will not be licenced or sell cigarettes.

What we are trying to do by getting in touch with all the community councils is determine what interest there is for this mobile shop and to determine where this shop should go, what routes it should take and where it should stop on its regular runs through North East Fife.

In this initial stage we are looking to consult with the Community Councils as far as possible. We will always strive to be as responsive as possible to all requests and needs from customers and we want to work together to serve the North East Fife Communities as best we can.

Given all this we would like to get an idea whether this initiative is welcome, what you would like to see on the shop and where you would like us to stop!

If there is any interest in the mobile shop coming to Gateside, please get in touch with the Community Association.
